Sarah McMillan is the wife of John Mark McMillan (author of How he loves). I can remember seeing her CD before but didn't give it much attention (honestly, I thought she was probably just making the most of the association). Ah, isn't it great to be wrong. Her record 'Under Your Bright Wings' is actually a sensitive collection of really well written songs. Sarah's intimate words fit snugly within the folk style and sparse instrumentation. Two songs of note are 'Treasure' and 'Sing my love', both working beautifully in congregational worship. You just can't get the chorus to 'Sing my love' out of your head - not a bad problem really.

Supernatural Worship at Bethel Church

Well, where do I begin... I just recently returned from Redding in California where I was attended a School of Supernatural Worship. Bethel church in Redding is led by Bill and Beni Johnson and Kris and Kath Vallaton and experiences wonderful measures of the Life of God. Through the time there I felt God was giving me a framework for the establishment of the sort of worship he desires. Encouragingly, many of the things taught are being done at our home church to an extent, yet there was a great clarification and underlining of key areas where we can still go deeper.

Honouring the Anointing
A great purpose of our worship is create an atmosphere suitable to Host God's manifest presence. By better recognizing His anointing, we can better position ourselves to allow Him to minister to his Church. What I noticed at Bethel was that the goal in everything was to encounter God, be it through worshiping Him, waiting on him or learning about Him and his Kingdom. We need to grow in our sensitivity to Him through a deep personal relationship with Him. Worship will bubble up spontaneously as we fill ourselves with His spirit and love.

Singing songs you 100% believe in

Kim Walker gave this seemingly straight forward advice but it is actually really important. Until you can 100% agree with some lyrics, they will not carry the weight of your conviction when you sing them. Sometimes we choose songs we like without really asking God for the words to become revelation to us. Other times we just need to find new songs that touch the very essence of who we are and what God is doing.

I'll have to write more later. But for now, let's do all we can to let God do all he wants.

Thirsty Tunes is a new NCMI (New Covenant Ministries International) Praise and Worship download website. Basically the site aims to source and distribute 'new' praise and worship songs written through relating churches around the world. Could I stress 'new' as all the tracks online at the moment are from recently released albums. I hope this is not a 'set' policy as I really love some of the classic albums like "Never be the same" by John Daniels and "Run with the Fire" by Fin and Isi de Gesigny.

It functions in a similar fashion to itunes where you have a choice of downloading complete albums or single tracks, cool. I hope they begin having 'free tracks of the day' too. The concept for this website is great but there is some way to go before it's working anywhere near its potential. For example as it is developed and managed in Australia (by South Africans) there is only music from the Southern Hemisphere at the moment. Either way, it can only get better. How about the European continent? Would be great to see Bendon Dolk's CD 'U Alleen' (all in dutch) online. And how about us here in the UK? We must do some recording soon. check it out.

New Worship Recomendation

Misty Edwards and the International House of Prayer(IHOP)

I've recently been really blessed and stirred by the worship music of Misty Edwards (Thanks to Jade). Edwards is involved with IHOP which is equipping and releasing pasionate worshipers for this generation.

'My soul longs for you'

is a great song using a sensitive guitar-riff over a simple chord progression. Edwards layers tuneful phrases to develop a simple prayerful song into a vast prophetic declaration of God's presence raining down. This is a great example of how simple chord structures can support great spontaneous and prophetic worship.
